Move takeoff to another condition
Move to condition reassigns a measured area, line, or count to another condition (a named, colored measurement group with a unit) without redrawing it. Use it when a shape went under the wrong condition or belongs to another pay item; it needs an estimator seat.
What it's useful for
- Curb ramp markers went under the wrong count condition, so box-select them and move them all in one step.
- The bid form separates standard sidewalk from thickened sidewalk at driveways, so create the second condition from the menu and move the driveway pieces into it.
- Smart Area claimed some hatched regions into the active condition that belong to another one, so move those shapes after you check them.
Move one shape or several
- Right-click the shape you want to move.
- Pick the new condition under Move to condition.
- To move several shapes, choose Select in the toolbar (V).
- Drag a box from an empty spot on the sheet across the shapes.
- Right-click one of the selected shapes.
- Pick the new condition under Move all to condition.
Move takeoff to a new condition
- Right-click the shape, or one shape in a selection.
- Choose Move to new condition… at the bottom of the move list.
- Name the condition in the form, which matches the shape's type.
- Click Create & start drawing; the shapes move to the new condition and no drawing starts.
Limits and checks
- The right-click menu lists only conditions of the shape's own type: areas move to area conditions, lines to linear conditions, and counts to count conditions.
- Cutouts move with their area from the right-click menu, in one undo step. A cutout has no Move to condition section of its own, and dimensions carry no condition.
- Move all to condition appears only when every selected shape is the same type and the selection holds no cutouts or dimensions. A box over an area with cutouts can pick up the cutouts too, so Shift-click the areas instead.
- A box selects every shape whose bounding rectangle it touches, so check the object count in the selection panel before you move.
- Use the right-click menu for an area with cutouts. The Condition list in the selection panel also reassigns the selected shapes, but it leaves their cutouts on the old condition, so the area's quantity no longer subtracts them.
- Moving does not change the outline, so the measured quantity stays the same, shown in the new condition's unit.
Questions
Do cutouts move with the area?
Yes, when you move the area from the right-click menu: its cutouts go with it in one undo step. The Condition list in the selection panel leaves cutouts on the old condition, so use the menu for areas with cutouts.
Can I move several shapes at once?
Yes. With the Select tool, drag a box across the shapes or Shift-click them, right-click one of them, and pick a condition under Move all to condition. Every selected shape must be the same type.
Can I move an area to a linear condition?
No. The right-click menu lists only conditions of the shape's own type: areas to area conditions, lines to linear conditions, counts to count conditions.
