Review the estimate and export to Excel

The Estimate page totals every condition (a named, colored measurement group with a unit) across all sheets, prices it, and sums each pay item into one bid line. Use it to check quantities and tune bid items before exporting an XLSX or CSV file.

What it's useful for

  • A spec change raises a course thickness, and every affected tonnage needs updating before you fill in the proposal form.
  • You want to see which conditions feed a pay item before you trust its total.
  • Before pricing, you need to know whether any takeoff sits on a sheet that was never scaled.

Open the estimate

Quantities come straight from the takeoff, and an open Estimate page refreshes when the takeoff changes. Cards at the top show the base bid, alternates and the bid item total, and a banner warns when conditions have takeoff on sheets with no scale.

  1. In the takeoff view, click Estimate at the top of the Conditions panel.
  2. Check the cards and any unscaled-sheet banner, then click Takeoff in the header to go back.

Price conditions and tune bid items

The Conditions & pricing table shows each condition's quantity, CY (cubic yards), waste, Cost Each, Markup %, Price Each and Price Total, grouped under Base Bid and each alternate with subtotals. Price Total applies waste to the quantity first.

  1. Type a Description, Cost Each or Markup % directly in a condition's row.
  2. Click ▸ beside a condition to show its bid items.
  3. Change an item's method, depth, width, density, rate or waste, then press Enter or leave the field to recompute.
  4. To add another item, pick it in Attach item from library… and click Attach.
A condition is expanded on the estimate and a top course depth is raised, recomputing its tonnage from 397.16 TON to 529.54 TON.

Read the bid item rollup

The Bid Items table has one row per pay item, summed across every condition it is mapped to and sorted by item code. Each row shows quantity, unit, Unit Price, Extension (quantity times unit price) and From, the conditions that feed it. Items fed by an alternate get their own rows under that alternate.

Export to Excel or CSV

The XLSX workbook has three sheets. Estimate has one row per condition with its alternate, quantity, CY, waste, pricing and a grand total. Bid Items has each pay item's code, alternate, quantity, unit price, extension and source conditions. Per-Page Detail lists each condition's count and quantity on each sheet, and whether that sheet has a scale.

  1. Click Export XLSX in the Estimate page header for the workbook.
  2. Click CSV for the condition rollup as a single file.

Limits and checks

  • Fix the scale, not the number. Area and length takeoff on a sheet with no scale is left out of the totals until that sheet is scaled; the banner and a ⚠ on the quantity flag it.
  • A ⚠ on a bid item means a mapping is missing a number its method needs or a source condition has takeoff on an unscaled sheet. The missing part adds nothing to the total.
  • The CSV holds the condition rollup only. Bid items are in the XLSX Bid Items sheet, which appears only when at least one pay item is mapped.
  • Bid item unit prices are read from the Item Library, so a price change there applies to every project that uses the item.

Questions

What sheets are in the Excel export?

Three: Estimate (one row per condition with pricing and a grand total), Bid Items (one row per pay item with unit price, extension and source conditions) and Per-Page Detail (each condition's quantity on each sheet). Bid Items appears only when at least one pay item is mapped.

Does the CSV export include bid items?

No. The CSV holds the condition rollup, the same rows as the XLSX Estimate sheet, with a grand total. Use Export XLSX to get the Bid Items sheet.

Are alternates kept separate from the base bid?

Yes. Conditions set to a bid alternate are grouped under their own heading with a subtotal on the Estimate page, and the Estimate and Bid Items sheets of the export carry an alternate column.
