Smart Area suggests matching hatched regions on supported vector drawings. Smart Linear does the same for matching plotted lines. You review each suggestion and keep what belongs in the takeoff, rather than tracing every suitable shape from scratch.
The resulting areas and lines remain editable. You can adjust their boundaries or move them to another measurement group as your understanding of the plans changes. Scanned PDFs and aerial images use the manual tools, and counts are placed manually. That keeps the promise specific: less tracing where the drawing supports it, with control over what gets measured.
Change a treatment without redrawing the footprint
Suppose you took off an area under the wrong pavement section. Use Move to condition to put it in the correct measurement group. The footprint stays in place while the material and bid-item quantities recalculate using the destination group’s settings. An existing line can be moved in the same way.
For a partial treatment change, split an area and reassign the affected portion. Splitting is available for shapes without cutouts. Keep Base Bid and each numbered Alternate separate while making those changes, so the final review follows the same options as the bid request.
